Welcome to Southern Maryland CrossFit.  Welcome to the CrossFit community.  Welcome to the fitness revolution.  The revolution is a grassroots movement.  This revolution does not involve mirrors, TVs, or countless rows of ellipticals or new machines.  It does involve hard work, smart nutrition, and patience to learn proper movement.  We offer a team-like environment to high school and collegiate athletes, mothers, MMA fighters, police and firefighters, and the deconditioned looking to gain real world strength and performance.  The support system of like-minded individuals we foster here will hold you accountable to your fitness and health over a lifetime, not over just your first month. 

We are southern Maryland's first CrossFit affiliate.  We have been forging elite fitness and making regular people into beasts for those in Charles, Calvert, Prince George's, and St. Mary's counties since 2008.  Don't be fooled by "CrossFit-like" classes at the local commercial gym, imitation is the highest form of flattery but those in the know come to us to achieve their strength, fitness, and conditioning goals whatever they may be.

What is CrossFit?

"CrossFit is a strength and conditioning system built on constantly varied, if not randomized, functional movements executed at high intensity."-CFJ Mar. 04

What does that mean?  It means that CrossFit workouts (except for benchmark workouts) will never be the same from day to day.  This is to prepare your body for what happens in real life, no day is exactly the same, especially if you are in the military, law enforcement, firefighting, or EMS community. 

"The fitness that CrossFit advocates and develops is broad, general, and inclusive.  Our specialty is not specializing.  Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and on average, punish the specialist."-CFJ Mar. 04

It means that these functional movements are essential to independent living, safe, pre-historic, compound, and they enable you to move a large load a long distance quickly.

It means that intensity gives you power.  Good fitness stems from intensity.  It means that if you start CrossFit, it will lead you to an effective road to results!

CrossFit also has the ability to be scaleable to any fitness level.  No matter what shape or how old you are, CrossFit can be applied to help meet your fitness goal whatever they may be! The needs of athletes and the elderly differ only by degree.

World Class Fitness in 100 words:
"Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports." -Coach Glassman
